Achieving Certification: A Milestone in Your Professional Journey
Certification is a significant professional achievement that reflects a counselor’s commitment to excellence, ethical practice, and professional competence in prevention and addiction counseling.
To become certified, applicants must complete an application packet that includes a comprehensive portfolio documenting education, relevant work experience, and supervised training. The completed application and portfolio are submitted to the Certification Examining Board for review. Upon approval, applicants become eligible to sit for the IC&RC International Written Examination.
Once certification is granted, professionals are automatically eligible for an International Certificate through the IC&RC (International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium), of which MAAP is a proud member. IC&RC promotes public protection by establishing rigorous standards and facilitating national and international reciprocity for prevention and addiction professionals.
MAAP-certified professionals benefit from reciprocity with numerous certifying bodies worldwide. A complete and current list of IC&RC member boards is available on the IC&RC website.
