Lapsed Certification & Renewal Guidelines
- Certification is considered lapsed at midnight on the expiration date of the credential.
- There is no grace period – renewal must be completed before expiration.
- Timely renewal is the certificate holder’s responsibility.
- To ensure on-time renewal, allow the recertification application to be reviewed and processed at least 60 days before the expiration date.
Recertification Requirements & Fees
Use the chart below to determine:
- The number of continuing education hours required for recertification.
- The cost of recertification for each year past the certification expiration date.
Important: Submission delays may result in additional fees and processing delays. It is the applicant’s responsibility to submit all required documentation on time.

Lapsed Certification & Renewal Guidelines
Certifications that have lapsed over four (4) years require the applicant to:
- Submit a new portfolio and application for certification.
- Take the IC&RC written exam corresponding to the credential they are applying for.
Current and Continuous Membership Dues:
- Membership dues must be obtained by calling or emailing the MAAP office for a prorated amount.
- The prorated amount is calculated from the membership dues expiration date.
- MAAP membership dues are due annually on January 1st.
- A $20 late fee is assessed for payments received after February 1st.
Important: To avoid additional fees and ensure timely renewal, submit all required documentation before the expiration date.
